A Druid's Duel is a fast paced turn-based strategy game set in a world of Celtic lore where players can create and destroy the board by harnessing the power of nature. Whether it's the single player story told across more than 130 levels, local play or online play for up to 4 players, there's enough variety for new and experienced strategy gamers alike.

Kickstarter Funded!

A Druid's Duel has been successfully funded through our Kickstarter campaign! Our modest goal of $7,000 was soundly beaten and we ended up raising $7,800 to complete and release the game with all the features we feel are needed to make it as great as it can be.

Thank you very much to everyone who contributed, shared, and otherwise came along for the 30-day trial that is a Kickstarter campaign. It was a ton of work and our progress on the game throughout that month was amazing. It was beyond intense and gave us tremendous momentum heading into last week's PAX East 2014 show in Boston, MA.

PAX East 2014

Myself (blue shirt in the photo below) and three wonderfully supportive friends headed out to Boston to show A Druid's Duel to the gaming public. As long-time attendees, we had some idea of what we were in for, but only living through it can make you truly appreciate the amount of effort that goes into showing even a tiny game like ours.

We were surrounded by other Indies, each with amazing games and amazing stories behind them. It was a blast getting to know them and watching everyone enjoy playing all the games in our row.

Everyone wanted our cool team shirts! Definitely going to sell those in the future!

All in all, it was a huge success and our booth was flooded for the majority of the Expo hours. I got to meet a few Kickstarter backers and others I only knew through social media :)

Our booth from above. 3 days straight of talking left me voiceless!

We had four computer stations and 3 wandering iPads, and in this picture you can see we're maxed out on space. By day 2 we had the routine down and were able to quickly show off the basics of the game and getting groups playing in the back. A number of groups came back repeatedly, bringing along new friends to show them the game and get a in a quick round or two!

That alone was wonderful to see but I was also able to make several publishing and other business connections. The hard work that went into the game during the Kickstarter paid off tremendously! It was enormous exposure and the constant compliments overwhelmed me. It was moving and exhausting and when it was all over, I knew it was the right decision to show the game at PAX.

Going Forward

With the Kickstarter and PAX East behind me, it comes time to finish the game off and release it into the world! As described in the KS, the Single Player and Online Multiplayer are the biggest remaining things to complete. About half of the animations made it in before PAX and today begins work on the Single Player story mode, something I'm very excited to work on. Up until now, I've done constant work on the hotseat multiplayer and general game development, so switching to brand new features should be a blast.

That's sit for now. As usual, you can also follow along on Facebook, or Twitter.

Thanks for reading,
Kris
