What should I choose? (Forums : Ideas & Concepts : What should I choose?) Locked

I have recently got into working on UE4 and really would like to start a small project of my own. Here are some of my ideas I really want to share and hear some feedback:

1) A Bird Simulator - This one is an old one, but I really see it having a fun gameplay. Basically it's a multiplayer simulator, where you live a life of a bird. You choose what kind of bird you want to be (You will have to find appropriate food based on your choice) and then hunt, survive, build nests, mate. With some stunning visual it would both be an atmospheric relaxing adventure and an entertaining game-play.

2) A classic FPS - This one is for the 90's kids. I always wanted to make a dynamic fast paced shooter with minimum story line and more balls-to-the-wall action like Quake, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Blood. With a large variety of weapons, monsters and bosses, health pick-ups, no auto-heal, no 2 weapon slots, no covers. just run, gun, shoot. I don't really want to see any realistic graphics in it, too. Just old school fun.

3) An atmospheric adventure - this one is a complete opposite of the previous one and mostly inspired by games such as Dear Esther or the Vanishing of Eten Carter. There would be no weapons or even enemies. I just want player to explore a really surrealistic world of dreams or his own subconscious, unraveling the story as he goes. And seeing how I always was a huge fan of Salvador Dali and H.R. Giger. I would really want to mix those styles and cover the game in it.

So yeah. Tell me which one of these do you prefer/like/think I should work on next.
Or maybe you want to join me on making it?

Honestly? Option #3.
This genre was dead for almost a decade and i am happy to see its getting reanimated lately. Join the bandwagon and make one yourself :D But a good one.
I really miss games with a GOOD story. Games, that even when you finish it just once - but you keep talking about them for ages or forever.
Think old Lucas Art adventure games. Or Broken Sword trilogy. Those never gets old. Time passes and new generations keep on playing those games. Think Gemini Rue - i would KILL to be able to replay that game fresh.

IMO a bird simulator sounds like a lot of fun. Considering your using unreal you could pull off some amazing graphics, which I think these days goat-chair-dog-frog simulators might do really well with next gen graphics.

Good luck!

I fully agree with Drone_Locker. I just love atmospheric, non (or minimum) combat games which are solely story driven. All these riddles you have to solve, all these questions you have to answer... There are just so few (and good) of this kind of games around and I wish there were more. So, I would also suggest option #3.

Good luck with whatever you will choose mate!

#3 would definitely be the game I would most want to play. If you create the right atmosphere with the visuals/music, that kind of game can really inspire awe and a sense of adventure that's really beautiful to find in a game. This is what made Limbo so great. The puzzles were interesting, but the atmosphere was what really made it exciting.
