Since today morning, when I visit a game's profile which has at least a video uploaded (such that the Latest Video area appears), the latest video starts playing automatically. I suppose this is a recent intended change.

This kind of annoys me, because I get sound from a tab without my knowledge. The thing is the video is not at the beginning of the page and you already miss a few seconds of the video until you realize a video is playing and scroll down to locate it.

So I think it would be better if the Latest Video area would appear closer to the top of the page and if there was an option to enable/disable video autoplay. (If there already is such an option, please tell me where to find it.)

Yeah I've also encountered this problem and I didn't find any solution but to pause the video manually.

It would help it true HTML5 video tags would be used without autoplay. This would solve tons of problems the ModDB videos are riddled with.

Are you running adblock? Sometimes when it blocks the ad code it causes the video to trigger and play automatically

Same here.
But it seems that it has been fixed.

Thanks for supporting us. I believe you just need to make sure you are logged in - because if you are visiting as a guest it wont be able to switch them off

Yeah that was probably the problem ^^

Unfortunately, I have the same autoplay problem again today, after some days without it. Yes, I am logged in, and yes, AdBlock is disabled for the whole indiedb website.

Are you seeing the adverts or profile videos auto playing, can you screenshot this issue occurring?

Apr 20 2015 Anchor

I had this issue too, but since a couple of days it seems to be fixed. I have adblock turned off for ModDb/IndieDb, use Chrome and Win7 and indeed, it was happening when I was not logged in. Though now it never happens (to me) anymore.

Was it ads or profile videos?

Apr 20 2015 Anchor

They were all profile videos, I never had an issue with advertisements autoplaying all the years I am a member of ModDB (thankfully).

At the moment of writing this post, the problem does not exist. I have visited a few game profiles, having videos, and none of them auto-played. I hope this is the result of fixing the bug and I'm not just being lucky today.

The problem still persists (at least for me). Logged in, moddb whitelisted in adblock and every time I access any mod/game site videos play automatically. Surprisingly, when I activated adblock again, everything started to work fine. Weird stuff.

For some time it had been fixed but since a couple of month the problem is back in all kinds of shapes. Quite annoying if a news post contains 3 or more videos and all start playing at the same time... quite the cacaphony going on then :/

The video player is old, I need to update it to the latest version. Challenge is pricing, they ask for way to much - our current licence is perpetual, new licence is much higher annual fee and it doesn't offer some features we need (like custom analytics).

So i've updated the video player which i'm hoping eliminates any problems that users have been experiencing. Let me know how you go!
