NO PAUSING! Pick your weapons quickly or you'll end up losing health faster!
Check out our inventory system video in development --- The game is called Azmara, made by Rollplay Games Ltd.

This will be our app icon! What do you think!?

I prefer pausing, get time to think things through and make the best choice for any given situation.

KOTOR did it the best way

Thanks for the feedback. I will consider looking at the different options after some more input.

I do not like pausing because I think it's not realistical. In my game (StaudSoft's Synthetic World) the game time continues if you open the inventory, open a chest, edit a sign, ...

In another RPG game I was attacked while I was in a dialog by wolfs. These wolfs waited patiently until I was finished with talking :-)

I don't like games that pause whenever you open menus, inventories, chat, etc.. It feels very unrealistic, and takes away from the game. If I was in a battle in real life, the enemies wouldn't wait for me to finish chatting with somebody. The enemies wouldn't wait for me to choose which sword I want to slaughter them with.. The only time a game should pause is when you open a pause screen to save the game, go to the main menu, change audio/graphics settings, etc..

Hello.I'm currently found this discussion in my team too. From our viewpoint, Pausing/Not Pausing is related to how fast you want your game paced. After watching your video, I think it's better to give player time to pause. Since your inventory window eats up almost all of the screen, and (perhaps) player movement control is disabled during inventory selection. Perhaps you can use alternative "Quick Inventory" window or something if you want to not pause, I like how players can switch around 2 weapon sets. As I watched the video, I noticed this game is an Action-RPG game. I also think it's better not to pause the game during battle to enhance the thrill though. :)I love the runic icon. :)Good Luck!
