The other day I posted a "Game covers" thread and really enjoyed hearing the stuff that other people posted.

So along the same lines -
Musicians of IndieDB, post your original music (via Soundcloud/Bandcamp/whatever) on here and save this forum from the blight that is single-post "Composer Looking for work" threads.

Give each other feedback and listen to everyone's great music!

I'll start the ball rolling -

Hey *EXIA,

Great music you've got there! I love your compositions, and I think the only feedback I have is that some of your instruments don't seem quite as "vibrant" as they could. I know this is a really vague word to use, but I'm curious what you're doing with your instruments in post-production and some of the samples/libraries you're using. Don't get me wrong though, it's still really great!

Anyway, I'll keep the ball rolling with some of my own music!

You've got some great stuff there dude - I especially like the Megaman stuff, it's very nostalgic!

I think I understand what you mean in your feedback - and believe me, I'm working on it haha! I'd still consider myself very much a beginner, so I'm sure I'll learn better production methods down the road :)

Hey guys! Great idea for a thread here, I'm surprised one of these hasn't been started before!

Exia, I've followed you on Soundcloud and heard some of your music in the past, but I'd like to be more specific and point out to say I love your Project Nimbus soundtrack. Really quality stuff there, nice diversity within the music happening to keep it fresh =)

Mike, OH! I remember seeing all your track names before somewhere! Absolutely love the creativity both in your tracks and in your track titles hahaha =D Great stuff.

I'll share my work as well! Hopefully you guys enjoy =)

Ah yes, I'm familiar with your music, Matt! I thought I was following you, but apparently not - soon to be fixed haha. Frenzy is particularly good, I'm personally a huge fan of dissonant and aleatoric music!

Thanks *EXIA! And yea it's definitely a process. Learning to compose is WAY different from learning to engineer/produce.

Hey Matt, good seeing you again. Thanks for the compliments!

Very nice soundcloud, Neoninsect - GoD Factory looks very interesting, I think I may have even seen the trailer you scored haha

It might be, as it was part of the kickstarter campaign and is also on their storepage on steam, which was released before a couple of weeks ago.

Great! I'm happy to see more threads that I can actually reply to in the audio section heh. Thanks Exia! Anyway, I listened through most of everyone's stuff.

Exia:
Your orchestral works very nice and epic. Going back through your stuff, I see you have some absolutely beautiful sounding piano pieces. I also really like your occasional with with older video game sounds and such. Great stuff!

Mike: Of course, I have to love those Mega Man tracks they sound great and so do your other tracks. You have some very interesting stuff going on. Those and quite a cool style.

Matt: Very nice, awesome orchestral stuff here! Love the dark horror inspired pieces. Also, I have a softspot for fantasy inspired music and yours definitely doesn't disappoint.

Neoninsect: Awesome! You have great orchestral songs as well. I like the quite darker mood for them. I also like when you combine those heavy electronic sounds with the orchestral sounds. It always makes for epic pieces.

Everyone has very awesome stuff and well composed orchestral pieces...and great mixing... Well I suck at all of that heh but I'll post mine I guess.

Very promising work, Kogasu - I'd love to hear the famitracker test loop if you develop it :)

Sep 15 2014 Anchor

Thank you, for your kind words, Kogasu!
I also gave a listen to your stuff and followed you.
It is already pretty promising. Crystal Stairway is very cool. I like the harp and woodwind combination. It always makes it very dreamfully for fantasystuff. But one thing you could do, is work more with dynamicvariations on your strings. They feel too static, but they could do way more for your tracks.

@ Exia, what library do you use for your brass? They sound awesome!

Neoninsect - I use quite a wide range of Brass samples mixed with live recordings (being a brass player myself haha). I tend to use SAM Symphobia 1 and Spitfire Albion for most things though :) hope that helps haha

Sep 16 2014 Anchor

Ah nice :) I just was curious^^
BTW: I am a brass player myself too. Got taught in horns and trumpets ;) I hated it, because my teacher was an ***hole. But now I am happy about it^^

Sep 16 2014 Anchor

Former brass player here as well!
I tried playing Trumpet for 4 years, finally came to realization I just couldn't get into it and stuck with piano, hahaha :P

@Neoninsect, really enjoyed your "Prologue Theme" from a while ago. Really nice build-up in it!

@Kogasu, thank you for the kind words! Greatly appreciated =)
I really enjoyed "The Winds of Might", gave a great nostalgic sound.

@Exia, thank you! Yeah, "Frenzy" is one that was a blast to write, hahaha =D

@Mike, great hearing from you as well!

Thank you Matt!
I will give some feedback on your stuff too. I just had a short sneakpeak so far, as my days are too short to listen to music atm :(
But what I've heard so far is perfect in all aspects. I liked your dynamics and the way you used the chords very much on the first track on your profile.

It's always great to see other brass musicians haha :)

I'm loving the amount of feedback on this thread, everyone - thanks for the kind words. It's fantastic hearing all of your work, especially since there are so many varied styles here!

Thank you guys for your feed back. You are all really awesome! Also, thanks for the advice Neon. I think I need to get out of that "synth pad" mood when I do strings heh.

Hi Dibur,
if I leave my own taste away, you are doing awesome stuff. I personally like the slower paced and darker stuff more. I guess this could be successfull on the asian market pretty much, if it isn't already.
1 Song a day...that's a challange. I'm happy enough if I find a point where I'm finally satisfied with my work, somewhere after 3 days, if it's about complex buildups and everything ^^

Keep up the good work!

Dibur - very nostalgic style, your music would definitely fit an old-school RPG, really nice work!

Well thank you for listening to mine. I would have gotten to yours sooner but I have been quite busy lately. I really love your stuff though. Really my kind of style with very great memorable melodies and pieces with a lot of energy. Perfect for JRPGs and the like. Great stuff man!
