Saw a trailer for this pop up in the news feed. Evil Within looks like a great game but its budget is estimated to be over $30,000,000 and it's developed by industry veterans in a mainstream genre. It has a huge marketing campaign, with appearances at all the major conferences and gaming outlets fighting to get coverage of it. Not really what IndieDB was made for.

Maybe it's highly moddable

I think it is not the amount of money spent on a game but the definition of what an independent game developer is - independent. Tango and Bethesda are owned in part by Zenimax, thus they are not independent. So no, they should not use this site. :(

Those are game listing. Half Life is listed as a game and it's not indy. Same with Starcraft, Doom, CoD, etc. Infact, most moddable game aren't indy.

But game pages that mods refer to don't tend to post their trailers on the news feed. Their current articles are like any other indie game page, trying to grab attention for the game itself.

^ plus not one word that the game will actually be moddable, just because it uses id tech 5 does not make it so. I think you need a SDK for that.
If corporations like Zenimax can use indiedb for selling their games, they should at least wait with their postings until an SDK is available and the game is moddable.

I thought Evil Within was never an indie production?

Resident Evil and Silent Hill style games from which this game derives from where never much supportive of modding.

Indie games are on there that don't support modding. IMHO nothing wrong with a game being listed, and game. It's nice to find info on various games here.

Besides, if people search for "Evil Within" and it links to the site, that's better for all here, right? :)
