Cropling looks for a hell of a sexy composer to work towards a splendid kickstarter campaign and maybe beyond. Paid of course.

I'll rework every goddamn graphic while you compose catchy and characteristic themes fitting different locations and moods. (quantity negotiable)
I love Koji Kondo's and Uematsu Nobuo's works, if you dont even know who they are, close this tab and consider a new career. ;p (kidding)
If you have fun composing melodies that convey emotion and have also fun experimenting with a wide range of instruments,
post your protfolio or send me a pm, you might be my guy or girl !

Eventhough this is "Piano only", its still a good example of what I am looking for, melody-wise: TPR is very sexy
If you think you can reach this quality, jump right through your monitor and into my arms.

If you arent a Composer yourself but know a guy which fits the description perfectly, (except Nobuo and Koji themselves) post a link pls !
You'd help me out alot.

Payment: You dont have to wait for the kickstarter campaign to end, to recieve your payments. No worries.
PayPal/Credit possible, all negotiations via pm or email of course. :)

looking forward to your applications !

Hello rbx775,

Cropling looks awesome! I love Uematsu Nobuo's work and he is one of the people that inspired me to become a composer. I am a composer for media, and would love the opportunity to work with Cropling's team. I specialize in contemporary piano tracks, rock and metal, but also write in a number of other styles ranging from epic trailer music, to emotional underscore. Attached, you will find 3 Soundcloud tracks that I feel that was made recently. If you would liketo hear more demos, please let me know and I can provide you with more links:
"Root Of Conflict": (Battle theme, Elves Voice, Cinematic)Soundcloud.com"Adventure In A Sandbox": (Ethnic, Orchestral, Adventure)Soundcloud.com"Deserted": (Chase, Trailer, Boss fight)Soundcloud.comIf you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you for your time.
Kind regards,Michael

Hey there!

I agree with Pixelee, Cropling looks fantastic! I would LOVE to work on such a project.

Here is a link to my most recent Demo Reel: Soundcloud.com

You should also know I have a borderline obsession with Uematsu's work. Like, I should probably seek professional counseling it's that bad. (IX is by far the best video game OST that was ever created, in my very biased opinion). Koji Kondo is a big-time inspiration to me as well. It's actually really refreshing to hear a dev use them as references. Too often I find devs want some crazy big orchestral bombastic piece like every other generic soundtrack out there!

Anywho, the music you referenced as well as the one in your demo video don't really reflect what I currently have in my demo reel, but I can definitely compose in that style (if you want more piano, mellifluous sounding music). I would be more than happy to write up a sample track for you if need be.

Anyways, Looking forward to hearing from you!

Howdy,
Sexy composer checking in, and I think we can all agree, Cropling looks freaking amazing. I'd love a chance to work on this project!

Playing off the TPR track (agreed, TPR is smexy to the max) here are a couple tracks off my own portfolio I thought might fit the bill:
Soundcloud.com
Soundcloud.com
Soundcloud.com

I also thought this reel in general might be good as well: Soundcloud.com

Full portfolio and reels available here, or on my webpage. Feel free to PM me or email at GhostMachineOrchestra[at]gmail.com. Looking forward to taking with you, and seriously, high-fives on the work on Cropling so far.

Cheers,
Alex

Time to reply !

Well, well. Alot of likeable and talented composers around here !
All of you understood what kind of music I'm aiming for, so far. Im happy that we agree on Koji and Nobuo ! :D
I listened to everyones showreel almost in full. Took some time but it was worth it since there were some gems hidden.

A little bit more personal:

Pixelee:

What the hell is it with your fast reply ? New world record I guess :)
I really like Adventure In a Sandbox ! That is pretty much what I aim for ! Amazing. (Deserted is also good)

Pixelee wrote: Cropling's team.

Croplings teamsize is still 1, though. You'd only have to bear me. :)

arthurvarkvasov :

Unfortunately your Youtube link to the "For Games" showreel points to your personal user control center.
Not the correct link. But your website holds some good works, "Badger"&"Magic Town" under your Magic/Fairytale category Is right up my alley.
Your music library is one of those I couldnt listened through because its so huge, impressive. :)
Still I find most of it not memorable/catchy enough, everythings to "ambient" for my taste. fits to movies, imo !

Im still interested in your Youtube link !

Ryan_Brady_Music :

Proving grounds is groovy I also like forbidden forest ! Eventhough its to electronic for me, I bet You'd have no problems
applying more organic/classic instruments to your pieces. I like ! They are also catchy.

GhostMachineOrchs :

Well. Wow. Flight of the Giants sounds very TPR-ish indeed, but to nag a little:
At some moments it felt a little unsecure, on the flow/technically/bad timing. But I guess that just comes with
playing on real instruments and by pure feel. Somewhere on a track it even said that it was recorded in only a few takes, so I guess thats the case for most of your pieces. Every other piece seems super tightly played ! No general problem (just felt like that on Flight of the Giants)!
I love Clown Romance, Piano Requiem #2 and The Quest the most though.
Eventhough I think you could have gone a little more adventurous & wild in Piano Requiem #2. Like a buildup to a new lead melody on top, but thats just my neurotic, bitchy way to nag. I love your stuff, and no, not just because its played on the Piano. :)
Its just fantastic work.

paul_graham_music :

Alot of electronic but catchy tunes too. Prefer organic stuff though. Again, I think You'd also do fantastic
on old-fashioned/classic instruments like Piano, trumpets, violin - etc... "Bastion" along with "Vapour" are my favorites.
Nothing else to say, really ! good work.

To be direct: I'd choose Pixelee or GhostMachineOrchst from the forum posts, but thats not entirely up to me.

Your works will be collected and presented to a small group of supporters/beta testers.
We then gather at a ritual stone formation (on a forest gland) to throw your names into the fire.
So we can observe whos name will be written into the starry sky.

Im going mad replying to all the pm's and forum posts...
Its to much for me. :D

Thanks for your Input and Interest !

And also thanks for the kind words on the graphics of Cropling !
The rework of Cropling will look even gooder (wisely chosen words.)

Also I want to drop some additional hints on what music gives me the wows, eventhough the instruments are super cheesy midi samples mostly.
I definately dig the melodies:

Singing Mountain - Chrono Sausage: Youtube.com
The Lucky Sega - Dolan Jumps: Youtube.com
The Notch advertised Card game I bought for 20 € : Youtube.com (It takes a little to build up to its melancholic glory)
Soul Reaver - Necropolis : Youtube.com (one of the few ambients I like.)

Of course not ! :)
I try to listen to - and answer everyone with respect and proper effort.
And I currently got 22 applicants in just 24h.
Im going nuts. I'll get to yours too eventually !

Also: Because some guys mentioned this in private messages:
You are not to late for your application I'll keep checking back to this thread for a while.
So if you read this: You're not to late until I say so. ;)

Everything is well scheduled. Im german. (worst joke. kill me)

Hey rbx775,

I was searching the forum and it just happened I saw your post! Thank you for taking your time to listen to all of us! I couldn't believe you would listen to Adventure In A Box because it was a bit for down the list. If you want, I can send you the full version of "Adventure In A Sandbox". I cut off the beginning because it took some time to build up, but I think it would really suit your game. If you could pm me your e-mail or just e-mail me directly, I can send you an mp3 file.

I also checked out the links you provided in the previous post, I really like Chrono Sausage and Deck Builder Theme. To be honest, those are really my kind of style of music haha.

Cheers rbx775, and thanks so much for the praise! Also its pretty awesome that you took the time to listen to so many people and so many of their tracks (even ones outside the tracks they linked!). I've just sent you a PM with a link to check out as well. Looking forward to talking with you.

Looking forward to the final results for this - Cropling is going to get a badass soundtrack, needless to say. :)

jbeutel : Cool stuff in general, especially found Level 2 to be very memorable and catchy.
But Id still go with other composers, eventhough I have nothing to nag about !

ratdogsoundhouse : Beautiful and moody compositions, but a little to heavy/slow for what Im looking for, thanks anyways !
Still, nice Instruments and Jazz going on there. :)

Super_Audio_Brains : Hey, no you are not to late ! I might be to late with my replies, though. :D
Niiice pieces, also well balanced selection of themes/moods. Love it. Not every tune would be something for Cropling ofc - thats logical.
But the potential shows ! thanks Matt !

*EXIA : Balls. Again, very nice stuff there. My list of potential composers gets longer once again !
I dont even have a specific track of yours in mind... just darn nice portfolio in general, Ethan. :)

Well !
Sry for only rushing through your applications this time, I simply wrote to much the last days.
The talent you guys threw at me cannot be handled by one humble being. :D
36 composers in total

I already mentioned this to some of you in private conversations:
A small group of community members of mine will vote their favorite - out of my pre selected applicants.
To make this short: Pixelee, iCompose, Dan Rodrigues, Sonaeris, InSomnis, neonInsect, GMO, StateSealMedia, Goatee,
Informatics, Super Audio Brains, EXIA.

They are already hot for you, and for some Cropling news, so you already serve me greatly as decoys to cover up my incapability
to progress by modelling / programming like a proper Indie Dev would. ;P

But first; I leave the thread open for submissions for another 3 days.
So if you are a composer: You are still not to late.

Thank you very much, still baffled by the talent ! :)
