Okay, so im no programming guru,genius, or whatever they call them selves. I'm wanting to become an indie game developer, i have a few friends that will help after i create a few games. 1. Should I Learn To Program C++ or Java? 2. Should I Program On Mac Or PC? ( I have a gaming pc, and a macbook pro ) 3. Recomendations on books/websites/online tutorials on C++ or Java PLEASE ! 4. 1. Depends what kind of game you want to make. If you're just making 2d platformers or 2d rpgs, Java should be fine. Stick with Java. There's no real point in learning C++ for simpler games(in my opinion, and I'm fluent in C++ and Java so I have an opinion). If you want to make 3d games or games that use a lot of resources you could go for C++, and since you already know Java you shouldn't have too much trouble with C++. Plus multiplayer in Java is easy peasy, and you can embed Java in a browser. Just a few nice things. ;-) Nothing against C++ I love C++ 2. I would prefer Java especially when LibGDX is around. Java is portable, you can write code once and they you can deploy your application to all platforms, even anroid phones and now with the help of LibGDX, you can deploy your games for Desktop, Android, HTML and even iOS. |
