Hi,

I am new here, I am a developer and I was hoping to get some feedback as to how to best utilize Indie DB, to gain the best experience.

Thanks

Hi, this question was actually already answered in a PM to the developer, still, seems worth listing the ways on public forums:

The most effective ways

  • Adding fresh screenshots, renders, artwork, videos and audio snippets (mp3 files can be uploaded using your Videos section) to your game profile often, bumping it on the Games listing page Indiedb.com/games once every 24 hours only
  • Utilising Giveaways section to gain followers quickly then regularly add news, images, videos to your game profile so these newly acquired followers can be automatically notified about any new updates
  • Getting your news article headlined: Indiedb.com/headlines usually once in a few months
  • Linking your news and files to various yet relevant community groups when submitting them, for instance Indiedb.com/groups?filter=t&kw=&subscription=&category=6 (NOT development groups, /company groups or anyone else's games) using the Linking Section at the bottom of news or file submission form (the right hand side shows what pages are active)
  • Customising your profile look, like here Indiedb.com/games/subsiege by using the customize tab on your game profile, however, do note that stylesheets of ModDB and IndieDB are separate so your game page may look different to visitors of ModDB

Moderately effective ways

The least effective ways

  • Adding images and videos to your personal member profile, indiedb.com/member/yourmembername unless you are known on the site and have member profile followers; your member gallery otherwise could be used for temporary or helper buttons, logos, etc. (you can use Media Repo too Indiedb.com/groups/media-repository)
  • Adding short or medialess articles which are to be archived because of low quality (too short or no media embedded), unless you have hundreds of followers of your game profile, as archived posts tend to be good as quick "local" news pieces
  • Adding news or images/videos to companies that nobody follows; you should add news/images/videos to your game profiles instead, games are far easier to find than company pages, and if you submit news/files via the game profile, they are automatically linked to that game profile; also, you should add dev-related news (company info or events with photos, etc) to at least one of your games, never your company page alone
