What's the best 2D platformer you ever played and what makes it the best? Â Mine's definitely Trine 2. Awesome gameplay with amazing visuals and it's also pretty easy to play, which makes it a perfect game to relax with. |

It's tough to choose from platformers I've played cause there's a winner for each category. Allow me to mention some categories and their winner: Run & Gun:Contra Hardcorps All Contra games I played are fun and challenging with varying enemies & bosses + weapons. However, Contra Hardcorps has more in its package i.e unique weapon set for each soldier and branching story and pathways which effectively increases its replay value tenfold Metroidvania:La-Mulana Metroid series has vast areas and rooms + puzzles to be navigated and solved by players. However La-Mulana gives more to player such as trickier puzzles, traps and more puzzle items. This makes La-Mulana the most complex and hardest metroidvania I've ever played Oh it also has secret sidedungeon Puzzle Platformer:Lost Vikings 2 This game is great combination of puzzle and 2D platformer. With three characters to control, each with his own abilities and limitations, player must solve puzzles while bringing all character to exit of each level. The levels are well designed and varied making the game fun and challenging Okay, I chose three categories for now |

I don't have a particular standout, but now that you mention it the Trine series is pretty darn good. |
