Formerly the "QUAKE 2 Engine", with pioneering innovation in 3D environments, a few of id Tech 2's most notable features were out-of-the-box support for OpenGL hardware-accelerated graphics (in addition to the traditional software renderer), and colored lighting effects. I decided to try this game for myself and I don't think it's as bad as everyone seems to make it out to be. If you can get it cheap then it's worth playing in my opinion.

Yeah, this game isn't that bad. Sure, it has some annoying parts (like the stupid teammates), but over all it's quite fun and it has some really good looking locations (for this engine).

Just tried Daikatana two years ago (when my game's development was compared to this game's dev cycle). I looked up what "Daikatana" was and it lead to this game. Got my hands on it from GOG and tried it.

Fantastic and morbid. Especially that plague time zone chapter. Still creeps the **** out of me.
